NFTP Program General Information

The NFTP Pain Management Program at the
Houston Rehabilitation Institute

General Information

You are about to participate in an intensive, structured program that not only treats the physical problem but also assists in dealing with emotional, pharmacological psychological, and vocational aspects of the pain problem. Education classes and support groups are offered to patients to provide an opportunity for them to discuss their concerns and ask questions about their problems. These classes are helpful in providing information, facilitating progress, and preventing relapse or re-injury. During your participation in the program, you will be expected to comply with the program requirements.

Program Requirements

  • You must be here on-time everyday, and you must sign in.
  • If you are sick, you must bring in a physician's note to resume activities. (Your sick days will be considered excused absences.)
  • If you accumulate three unexcused absences, you may be discharged from the program. Missed days that result from increased pain will not be accepted as excused absences.
  • No family members or friends are allowed in the institute except during specified conference times.
  • You must not consume any drugs or alcohol during the program, including time spent outside the institute.
  • No smoking in groups.
  • Please refrain from using profanity.
  • Be sure to bring the following items of clothing with you--bathing suit, pool shoes, comfortable workout clothes, and tennis shoes or rubber-soled shoes.
  • Be sure to provide your own lunch, transportation, and child care.
